I Can Dig It! (Premiere Edition)

February 28, 2010

Finally! The Olympics are over!  Which can only mean one thing: new episodes of TV shows again!

Yay!

So even though favorites such as the CSI franchise and sitcoms are coming back, I’ve decided that the 3 shows to watch this week are all new premiere shows (as well as one season premiere of a show that has already been on for 2 seasons).

Soooo…let’s get started!

1. Parenthood   Series Premiere Tuesday  10 p.m. on NBC

Cast of Parenthood

A remake of the 1989 movie of the same name, this Ron Howard-produced show looks like it may be a promising hit. The show basically revolves around a single mother who moves back home to deal with her “extended, colorful family.”

The cast is peppered with entertainment veterans, such as Craig T. Nelson, Bonnie Bedelia, Peter Krause, Monica Potter and Lauren Graham.

Michael Ausiello, of Entertainment Weekly, already tweeted:

Watching 2nd ep of PARENTHOOD and loving it more than 1st. And I REALLY liked the 1st.

To see a promo of it, check out the video below and watch this tuesday (March 2) at 10!

2. The Marriage Ref   Series Premiere  Thursday at 10 p.m. on NBC

Jerry Seinfeld of The Marriage Ref

From the comedic genius mind of Jerry Seinfeld comes The Marriage Ref.

At first, I wasn’t really sure what this show was about. But after seeing about 100 promos and doing my research, I found that this show, hosted by the hi-larious Tom Papa, includes airing real life disagreements (i.e. fights) between real life married couples. There will be a celebrity judge panel – first episodes contains Jerry, Alec Baldwin and Kelly Ripa.

This show is based on the premise that for the first time a 3rd party will ultimately decide a winner between marital fights. I figure this show to be the perfect one for married couples to get together and watch every week. Why? To learn what to do right next time!

3. The Real Housewives of New York City  Season 3 Premiere  Thursday at 11 p.m. on Bravo

Cast of Real Housewives of NYC (from left: LuAnn, Jill, Bethenny, Kelly, Ramona, Alex)

This was really the first “Real Housewives” show that I got interested in – even though it is technically the second Real Housewives show to come out.

Why? Simple really. I love New York, and I love the idea of New York socialite women tearing each other to shreads.

Fun!

The cast contains Alex McCord, Bethenny Frankel, Jill Zarin, Kelly Killoren Bensimon, LuAnn de Lesseps, and Ramona Singer.

Everyone has their fights, and their make ups, and their hateful words, and that’s what makes this show such a great guilty pleasure.

To see a video of the craziness, check out this season 3 preview below and watch all premiere shows this week!

You Like Me…You Really Like Me

February 24, 2010

Adam Rodriguez (Eric Delko) from CSI: Miami

In a kind of “no duh” moment, news broke the other day that Adam Rodriguez will return to CSI:Miami.

In the show’s season finale last year, Rodriguez’s character, Eric Delko, had seemingly disappeared after enduring a gun fight. During the summer, Rodriguez failed to agree to contract terms with CBS, resulting in him essentially being off the show. Fans and critics speculated that Delko would be killed off, since that would essentially explain Rodriguez being off the show, but Rodriguez wouldn’t agree to that. Instead, he agreed to a 10-episode arc (meaning appearance) so as to save the Delko character and possibly tie up loose ends with the Eric Delko-Calleigh Duquesne relationship that fans had to wait seven long years for.

Meanwhile, in between his guest appearances on Miami, Rodriguez landed a guest spot (spanning, it seems, over several episodes on then-hit show Ugly Betty (which has now been cancelled).

Now, since the demise of Betty, speculation arose of whether Rodriguez would return to Miami full time again. The answer? Let’s head to Rodriguez’s Twitter account for that:

amaticrodriguez: Twit Fam, I have some news that I hope will make CSI:Miami fans happy. Eric Delko will be back to the show full time 4 all of season 9!!!    4:28 PM Feb 19th via web

Having recently gotten into CSI:Miami because of the Delko-Duquesne romance, I can say with all certainty: HOO-RAY!

Michael Ausiello from Entertainment Weekly got an exclusive interview with Rodriguez which explains the come-back as well as Delko’s future on the show. A lot of it, Rodriguez said, had to do with fan response. (There was even a website dedicated to “saving” Rodriguez’s character).

No matter the reason, I’m glad Rodriguez will be back. Actor Eddie Cibrian had been somewhat filling his place, but Cibrian’s character has met with mix fan reactions.

Happy about this? Sad? Don’t care? Let me know!

MOLLY SHANNON WILL GUEST-STAR ON GLEE!!

That’s right. Michael Ausiello at EW broke the news earlier today that the SNL alum will guest as “an alcoholic pill-popping” astronomy teacher. Her rival? Everyone’s favorite cheerleading coach Sue Sylvester.

I think this will be a great addition to the cast. Molly has already proven she can play off an alcoholic in the movie Talladega Nights. Check out her great performances below (and pick up season 1 of Glee on DVD today!)
