Everbody Loves Somebody….

After seeing a showing of The Rat Pack is Back (which is amazing and everyone should see!), it really made me appreciate the coolness that was the Rat Pack.

Being home now, all I can do is watch old clips and listen to their songs on YouTube. I found clips from “The Dean Martin Show,” and was immediately inspired.

“The Dean Martin Show” was a widely successful variety show in the late ’60s, early ’70s. It ran from 1965-1974, and included over 260 episodes.

It included a huge variety of stars, including Bob Newhart, Orson Welles, James Stewart, Gene Kelly, Van Johnson, etc. etc.

While popularizing the variety show, Dino also made “the roast” famous. He had endless amounts of celebrities come up to a microphone and roast – or make fun of – another celebrity, the guest.

Whether or not you like the music or the jokes, you can’t help but admit that Dino and his boys were the ultimate entertainers. I’ve added in some clips of his variety shows and roasts below.

RIP Dino, Frank and Sammy… they just don’t make men like you anymore.

I forgot about old Foster Brooks. That was great comedy back then … today no one would laugh.
